Speech and Language Therapist

Hours: 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Remuneration: Salary Band 5 (depending on experience)

Closing Date: Open ended. This vacancy will remain open until the position is filled and we’ll interview as suitable applications are received. We may consider a delayed start date for the right candidate.

What you’ll be doing:
As part of our experienced Service Delivery Team, you will work primarily on our StarGaze project. This involves working alongside occupational therapists and other professionals, introducing alternative computer access and specialist software to people (of all ages) who are unable to use standard controls.  The team carries out in-person visits to people in hospitals (often ICU), rehab centres and nursing/private homes across the UK, as well as providing remote support, where appropriate.

There will also be opportunities to contribute to other SpecialEffect projects.

What you’ll need:
With a BSc (Hons) or Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, you will be confident and comfortable with technology and have a good knowledge of MS Office 365 products. Very importantly, you will have good communication skills as well as excellent attention to detail.

CRM and Data Protection Manager

Hours: FT 37.5hrs per week (PT may be considered for exceptional candidates).

Contract: Fixed Term – 18 months (6 month probation period)

Salary and Benefits: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum, dependant on experience (pro rata for part time). 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata if part-time). Auto Enrolment Pension contributions after three months.

Location: Hybrid working – SpecialEffect Office, Charlbury / max 2 days WFH each week

The CRM and Data Protection Manager is a new role, that will be an integral part of SpecialEffect’s Operations Team, serving the needs of the whole charity. The successful candidate will ensure our CRM system houses good quality, safe and secure data, that we can use to help us understand more about our supporters, partners and the people who use our services. They will also act as Data Protection Lead for the Charity, ensuring that all policies and procedures comply with the law and respond to Right to Be Forgotten, DSAR requests and data breaches as required. Experience of producing impact reports, as well as working on digital marketing, email, fundraising and other data-driven campaigns, would be welcomed.

What you’ll be doing:

Primary area of responsibility: CRM Manager
In collaboration with senior management and team leaders, you will be responsible for empowering staff to get the most out of the CRM, to ensure the highest levels of experience for service users, supporters and internal stakeholders. This will include training staff and creating user-guides, managing the relationship with external CRM implementation partners, and producing relevant reports for all teams, deepening understanding of our service users, supporters, helping to identify patterns and quantify impact.

Secondary area of responsibility: Data Protection Lead
This element of the role will include overseeing SpecialEffect’s compliance with GDPR, ensuring policies, processes, and asset registers are all up-to-date and fit-for-purpose. It will also involve investigating and resolving Right to be Forgotten requests, DSARs, and data breaches if they should occur.

You will lead and be the primary decision maker for the Fundraising and Communications (F&C) Team, ensuring all income streams and comms channels run smoothly and perform effectively. You will have plenty of line-management experience, and a strong track-record of supporting and motivating colleagues to achieve their full potential.

What you’ll be doing:
As the leader of a high performing team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Fundraising and Communications activity at SpecialEffect, ensuring all team members are working towards common goals and objectives.

This is a varied and demanding role, ranging from representing the charity at fundraising events and networking opportunities, to hosting supporters at our offices and chairing internal meetings. Key to your success will be facilitating positive working relationships between individuals and encouraging good internal communication between the F&C Team and the wider organisation.

You’ll be comfortable making decisions and meeting the challenges of a busy team with a constantly evolving list of projects and tasks. You’ll have the event/ project/ campaign management experience and delegation skills required to see large and complex pieces of work through from start to finish and the flexibility and capability to deal with the unexpected – whether unforeseen challenges or opportunities.

You’ll be a brilliant people person who is confident at forming productive and empathetic relationships with colleagues, supporters and stakeholders, as well as possessing strong strategic planning, budgeting and data analysis skills. You’ll be as happy standing in front of an audience as you are sitting behind a desk, as comfortable talking to high-net-worth individuals as you are briefing volunteers. A passion for gaming, sports and technology would also be a big plus!
