“As a Paralympian, and part of the Great Britain Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Squad between 2009 to 2018, I have always been a competitive person. I was born with only two fingers on each hand and no feet or ankles, yet this was never going to hold me back. I soon discovered sport and realised it was an ideal platform to show that my disability didn’t affect or bother me.”

“Since that moment I have played sport at every level, participated in numerous sports, and represented my country. Growing up I found gaming was a great way of relaxing, escaping from external pressures, but also allowing me to be competitive. When I was young, I managed using a joystick with my hands, but as computers/consoles evolved, so did the number of buttons, making it harder for me to compete on an equal level. Since I found someone to adapt a controller for me, so I can use my legs, I have been able to be competitive and can now win again!”

“I have since been introduced to SpecialEffect, and it was fantastic to find a charity which is enabling children to access gaming and have the opportunities I had growing up: to escape from the world around me, have fun, and play with my friends equally. I hope I can spread the good work of SpecialEffect and look forward to enabling fun to happen.”
